Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma’s life was a powerful testament to how one person’s unwavering principles can shape both people and society. At the 3rd Annual Impact and Legacy Lecture, we gathered to celebrate a man whose values; justice, compassion, and integrity, continue to guide and inspire.
His wife and Executive Chair of ICCEF, Dr. Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, reminded us that Innocent’s legacy isn’t in what he left behind, but in what he left within us. Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi reflected on his unwavering support for gender justice, calling him a true male feminist and champion for equality. His daughter, Amarachi, shared memories of his deep love for reading, one of many inspirations behind the creation of the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Library.
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of his biography, “Against All Odds”, chronicling his journey and lifelong commitment to a just, inclusive society.
As we reflect on his life and legacy, we’re reminded to lead with the values he embodied: Competence, Capacity, Courage, Character, and Compassion.
