ICCEF was present at the SHE CAN with ICT Graduation and Expo for Beauty and Fashion Entrepreneurs on the 6th of May 2025
Organized by W.TEC (Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre) and ACT Foundation (Aspire Coronation Trust), with sponsorship from Access Bank, the event marked the successful completion of a transformative program that spanned five cohorts and empowered 5,000 women. Participants were trained in digital marketing, graphic design, video editing, business development, and sustainability skills essential for thriving in today’s digital economy.
The event opened with a powerful speech from W.TEC’s Founder and Executive Director, Oreoluwa Lesi. She reflected on W.TEC’s beginnings and its mission to close the gender gap in tech industry by equipping women with in-demand digital skills.
Next was the guest speaker, Lady Judith Nwachukwu. Speaking to a room full of young women entrepreneurs, she talked about the importance of confidence, working together, and joining communities to grow and get more opportunities. She encouraged everyone to find their target audience, look for gaps in the market, and create businesses with products that people you’re marketing to need. One key message she left us with was the importance of sharing what we know and helping others through mentorship because that’s also how we grow.
The highlight of the event was the fashion exhibition, where five collaborative groups showcased their work, ranging from sustainable and modern fashion to couture and African-inspired designs. These were the result of months of teamwork and innovation throughout the program. Some of the women gave personal testimonies, speaking about how much they had changed. From initially being afraid or unsure about social media, they now confidently use digital tools to grow and promote their businesses clear evidence of the program’s practical impact.
The day concluded with the presentation of grants to top-performing students from each cohort, followed by a showcase of various student-run businesses. The atmosphere was one of celebration, inspiration, and a shared commitment to elevating women in tech and entrepreneurship. It was a proud moment for ICCEF to witness and support a movement that empowers women to lead, create, and succeed.
