On May 27th, the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation (ICCEF) proudly participated in Ability 4.0 – Empowering Voices, a Children’s Day event organized by the Raising Star Africa Foundation. The celebration brought together seven schools for children with disabilities, showcasing talent, resilience, and creativity through a series of seminars, an art exhibition, and entrepreneurial support initiatives.
The event opened with a powerful keynote address by Mr. Michael Showunmi, founder of the Raising Star Africa Foundation, who encouraged attendees to view challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation. His message set a reflective and empowering tone for the day.
A panel discussion, moderated by Mrs. Thomas, featured several inspiring voices. Among them was Mr. Muyiwa Majekodunmi, who shared his personal journey of raising a son with Down syndrome. Reflecting on the early years before the internet made information easily accessible, he spoke of the challenges he faced and the deep sense of purpose he discovered in advocating for inclusive education and dismantling social stigma.
Miss Folasade, another speaker, recounted her experiences within the Nigerian educational system as a person living with a disability. She spoke candidly about overcoming discrimination and the importance of emotional resilience, stressing the role of community and support systems in her success. Her story emphasized the need to create inclusive academic environments where all students can thrive.
Another panelist addressed the vital role of fostering independence among children with disabilities. Parents and educators were encouraged to empower these children with confidence and autonomy, rather than overprotection, to help them realize their full potential.
As part of ICCEF’s ongoing commitment to economic empowerment and inclusive development, we awarded business grants to three outstanding individuals during the event. These grants aim to support innovative projects and dreams that can drive long-term personal and community growth.

The program concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the remarkable talents of participating students. Monetary prizes and public recognition offered affirmation and encouragement to young individuals striving to make their mark.
This Ability 4.0 – Empowering Voices aligned closely with ICCEF’s mission to support underserved communities and promote inclusive opportunities. The event was a resounding reminder that by uplifting every voice and investing in diverse talents, we pave the way for a more equitable and empowered society.
