After 10 weeks of rigorous training, the first cohort of students at Oluaka Institute of Technology showcased their incredible progress during the highly anticipated Demo Day on July 26th. This event marked the culmination of their training, as 13 talented students were divided into 6 groups, each tasked with developing a unique and impactful project. Here are the some of the projects that the students carried out and defended:
Group 1: Akawo (Thrift Save)
This platform is designed to help users save money and assign interests to their funds if they maintain a disciplined savings schedule. The project aims to promote financial discipline and provide users with a structured approach to saving.
Group 2: Sales Inventory App
This site focuses on the merchandising of consumables, allowing small businesses to take stock and make sales efficiently. It also helps users find fabrics they are searching for, along with pricing information, thus facilitating smoother business operations for small retailers.
Group 3: School Directory Portal
This site advises parents on suitable schools for their children based on specific parameters. For instance, parents of children with special needs can find schools that cater to the needs of their wards according to their specified location, providing a tailored and accessible educational solution.
Group 4: Food Delivery SITE
The site helps users locate their favourite local meals in their vicinity within the shortest possible time, enhancing the local food market by connecting vendors with customers efficiently.
Group 5: Secure Alert
The site is designed to alert users about various security threats based on their location. The site allows users to post criminal activities within specific areas, flagging unsafe hotspots and providing users with information of locations to avoid at a particular time, hence promoting community safety.
Group 6: School Management Portal
The sixth group created a ‘School Management Portal’, a comprehensive tool designed to streamline school operations. This portal assists in managing administrative tasks, such as payment of fees, course registration and improving overall efficiency within educational institutions.
After their impressive presentations, each student received a certificate in recognition of their hard work and dedication over the past 10 weeks. ICCEF is incredibly proud of the achievements of these students and is excited to see how they will excel in the tech industry. The Demo Day was not just a showcase of their projects but a testament to their growth and potential as future tech leaders.
